(Who is Don? Don – MBA and International Communications Manager seeking Manager of Corporate Communications role)
Terry: We have your resume here, your credentials, you have a very impressive background, but I always like to hear from the candidate’s own mouth the things that they think are important for us to know about them. So Don, why don’t you tell me about yourself?
Don: Very good.
For the last 10 years I’ve been very active in focusing on both the internal and external communications for the number of firms that I worked for. If you’ll notice that the companies that I were employed by, one rolled into the other. It was basically a group of acquisitions and it gave me the opportunity to work with a highly-diverse group of people; basically, 23 countries and 12 different languages.
And as the company went through a lot of changes and a lot of challenges I’ve been enjoying the opportunity to work in a challenging environment, if they’re either doing very well or excelling well, as far as sales and success, or downsizing or various cultural challenges I had to deal with.
I was very lucky and something I enjoy very much is building a program from the bottom up. It allowed me, in the international organization, to become the first XXX leader.
I was able to develop various successful programs using everything from traditional print to current, contemporary, social media in various forms and channels in improving the corporate culture and, at times, also improving things that contributed to the bottom line.
Here’s how I would rate this answer . . .
Q1. Tell me about yourself – DON QUICK RATING – B
Good summary, could even match a little more specifically to what they’re looking for in posting.
