woman(Who is Wendy? Wendy – Executive and recent Chief Operating Officer seeking Controller position)

Terry: Do you have any questions for me?

Wendy: In your looking at candidates, what would you say are the top two or three things that are critical to this role?

Terry: Now because of my role within the organization I’m doing the initial screening, so this is a question that I will pass on to the hiring manager.  As a matter of fact, the hiring manager has asked me to gather the questions that are coming in from all the candidates so that they can be prepared to address it.

Wendy: Okay.

Terry: I certainly have that first one, what additional questions would you also have so I can add them to the list?

Wendy: I guess one other question I always like to ask is the person who was previously in this position, you know, what made them successful or what is it that, you know, you would like to add to the role?

Then, from an organizational perspective, what are the top three to five initiatives that the university as a whole is focusing on and how does the controller role support those initiatives?

Terry: Okay.

Wendy: I guess for you, then, my question would be around what are the next steps in this process.

Terry: Well that I can answer.  Any other questions for the list before we talk about the next steps in the process?

Wendy: No, I think that’s probably what I have right now.

Terry: All right.  The next step in the process is that I’m completing my initial screening interviews with everyone this week and next week.  I will then be providing that data to the hiring manager and they will be making the decision as to the candidates that they want to bring back in for the next step in the process, which would be a conversation with them.

You know probably within a week or two weeks you should expect to be hearing back from us, if we are going to be moving forward and need you to take the next step in the process.

Wendy: Have I told you everything you need to provide seeds for the appropriate feedback?

Terry: Yes.  I don’t have any more questions at this point.  Anything else that you want to ask of me?

Wendy: I don’t think so, but I do definitely you taking the time to talk to me about my background.  As you’re writing your findings if you have any questions I’d be more than happy to fill-in the blanks.

Terry: Great.  Thank you.

Wendy: All right, thank you.
