(Who is Dana? Dana – Media Planner and Buyer with 4 years experience seeking Marketing PR Specialist role)
Terry:
Do you have any questions for me?
Dana: I do. How would you describe the responsibilities of the position as it’s sort of made out in the description?
Terry: I’m not quite following the question.
Dana: How would you sort of describe the day-to-day responsibilities of the position, a typical day?
Terry: Maybe you don’t have the job description that we sent. Is that what you’re talking about or are you talking about something different?
Dana: No, I’m talking about the job description, I guess, and a day in the life of the Marketing PR Specialist.
Terry: So what’s a typical day look like?
Dana: Correct, yes.
Terry: All right. Now as the screening person, I don’t clearly have the in-depth knowledge of that particular organization. However, the hiring manager has asked me to capture all of the questions from the candidates so that they are prepared in advance to be able to address those questions when they are talking with people.
Dana: Okay.
Terry: So I have what’s a typical day captured, so there’s one of them for them. Are there other questions that you would like me to add to the list?
Dana: Absolutely. If you could just describe the company culture, the team culture, so I could just get a feel for the environment. And then another one, what do you see ahead for your company in the next five years?
Terry: Okay.
Dana: I guess another one would be what are the prospects for my growth and advancement and how to you reward achievement or success as you’re moving forward with the organization?
Terry: I’m writing these down. Any other questions?
Dana: And then I guess I just wanted to ask are there any other questions that I can answer for you that we didn’t cover?
Terry: I don’t have any right now.
Dana: Okay.
Terry: Any other questions for the hiring manager for me to pass on?
Dana: I’d like to know the next step and where do we go from here and when can I expect to hear from you.
Terry: I can answer that one at least. We are in the screening phase right now. We do expect that I’ll be talking to the candidates this week and probably some next week, as well.
Dana: Okay.
Terry: Realistically, it’ll be the end of next week when we will be passing the information on to the hiring manager for them to make a decision as to which of the candidates that we will be bringing forward for the in-person interview with them. So that will be the next step, probably by the end of next week.
Do you have any additional questions for me?
Dana: No, I think that’s it.
Terry: Well, thank you. I appreciate your taking the time today and the opportunity to chat with you. We will be in touch.
