woman(Who is Margaret? Margaret – Senior Level Marketing Communications Professional seeking position with University)

Terry: Do you have any questions for me?

Margaret: Yes.  I was hoping to find out what the timeline is for the hiring process.

Terry: We’re going through the first round this week and next week and then by the end of next week expect to be able to identify those candidates that we want to bring in for face-to-face interviews with the person in charge of the area.  Then by the end of next week, moving forward in the process, we should be getting back to you to schedule that meeting.

Margaret: Thank you very much that’s very clear, I appreciate it.  Also, I was hoping to find out if you could let me know how you would describe the culture here at this organization.

Terry: That’s something I can’t speak to because I’m only doing the screening for them, but the hiring manager has asked me to gather questions that the candidates have so that they can be prepared to address them when they do talk with people, so I have copied your question down.  Are there additional questions you want me to add to the master list?

Margaret: No.  I think that’s a great way to handle it.  I will just wait to hear from you when you receive the answer from the hiring manager on that.

Terry: Again, it would help me and the hiring manager to actually pull any other questions that you may have right now.  You may be thinking, well I’ll just wait and ask them when I get there, but if you do have any I’m more than happy to take them right now.

Margaret: I would like to know a little bit more about the team that I would be working with.

Terry: What would you like to know about the team?

Margaret: Well, a little bit about the personalities of the people already in place and if there’d be any leeway for me to hire anyone new or reorganize the department.

Terry: Okay.

Margaret: If need be.

Terry: All right, any other questions?

Margaret: No, that’s it.

Here’s how I would rate this answer . . .
